Empirical Traditions in Human Centered Design and Engineering

Empirical research increasingly forms a cornerstone of HCDE. As a result, designers, researchers and developers need a solid understanding of the nature of empirical research. The objective of this course was to explore the empirical traditions that inform research and practice in HCDE. Topics included epistemological assumptions that underlie empirical research, empirical research methods, examples of empirical research, and ethical issues that underlie empirical research.
